Prerequisites for iPad Deployment

The iPad pre-requisites below should be completed before picking up the iPad. Please make sure to complete steps 1–3 below (in order) prior to picking up the iPad. If you have any questions, please contact the Tech Team at support@belenjesuit.org.

CHECK YOUR EMAIL (PARENTS’ EMAIL) FOR YOUR BELEN CREDENTIALS

You will receive an email with your Belen credentials (email, username and password). These credentials will be used for:

  • Your Belen Jesuit email account (accessible via www.gmail.com)
  • My Belen (student portal)
  • Numerous software programs (Securly, Showbie, Concierge, Classlink)

Make sure to locate and save this password (note which letter or letters are capitalized), as you will need it for the steps below.

If you need to change or reset your password, please visit the Tech Center when classes are in session.


1. LOG INTO BELEN JESUIT STUDENT EMAIL

You need access to your Belen email for the next step.


2. LOG INTO MY BELEN

• Navigate to gmail.com and log in to your student Gmail account

• Enter your Belen email address (e.g., pperez32@belenwolverines.org)

• Enter your Belen password

• Navigate to http://belenjesuit.myschoolapp.com/

• If you are logged into your email account, you will automatically enter My Belen because it uses Google Single Sign-On


3. SET UP AN APPLE ACCOUNT FOR THE STUDENT

Visit: https://account.apple.com

Please read below before beginning the process.

• We recommend creating an Apple Account using their Belen email (@belenwolverines.org) provided by the school. If you have any problems creating an Apple Account for the student, you may use their personal account if they have one.

• We suggest using the same password for your Apple Account and email account.

• You may need to access your Belen email and a mobile phone with texting capabilities—Apple may send codes via email and text during account creation.

• To add more than one trusted number, log in at account.apple.com, click on Account Security, and enter another trusted phone number.


Apple has updated its policy regarding trusted phone numbers. Previously, the same phone number could be used as a trusted number for multiple Apple accounts. However, Apple now requires that each trusted phone number be uniquely associated with a single Apple account.


To create an Apple account when no unique phone number is available, please create a child account and add it to your Apple account via Family Sharing. Use your son’s Belen email address as the email for the new Apple ID, and also use his birthday.


Please follow the steps below to add a child to your Apple Family Sharing account:


How to Add a Child to Your Apple Family Account

  1. Open Settings

    On your iPhone or iPad, open the Settings app.

  2. Go to Family Sharing

    Tap your name at the top of the screen, then tap Family Sharing.

  3. Add a Family Member

    Tap Add Member.

  4. Create a Child Account

    Tap Create Child Account and follow the on-screen instructions to create a new Apple ID for your child.

  5. Enter Child’s Information

    Provide your child’s name, date of birth, and other required details.

  6. Set Up Parental Controls

    Once the account is created, you can set up Screen TimeAsk to BuyLocation Sharing, and other parental controls for your child’s device.


ONCE YOU PICK UP YOUR IPAD, DO THE INITIAL SETUP AT HOME

Please enter your home Wi-Fi information.

Enroll using your Belen username and password.

Create a passcode. Please do not forget this passcode and write it down.

Enter your Apple Account username and password.

Turn on location services


ONCE YOU HAVE YOUR IPAD SET UP, LOG INTO YOUR BELEN EMAIL ON YOUR IPAD

  • On your iPad: Go to Settings > Apps > Mail > Mail Accounts
  • Tap on Belen Email, then Re-enter Password
  • Enter your Belen password. Select all and click continue to finish email setup.

NOTABILITY

  • On your iPad: Open Notability
  • Go to Settings, the gear icon in the upper left corner
  • Under Connected Services, make sure iCloud Syncing is ON
  • Turn Auto-Backup ON and choose Google Drive
  • Enter your email and password to log into Google Drive

Miscellaneous Software

Most other software such as Securly, Showbie, Classlink, etc. will also use Google Single Sign-On.


iPad Case

Students will receive the Logitech Case - Rugged Combo 4 Touch with their iPad. Students are required to use this case with their iPad, and they can place school appropriate stickers on the case to personalize it and distinguish it from others.

Logitech Crayon

Students will also receive a Logitech Crayon USB-C for Education. We recommend adding a sticker or finding a method to distinguish your crayon from everyone else's.
